The Hebrew language has been around for thousands of years. This language has followed the Jewish people throughout the generations, from the reception of the Torah at Mt. Sinai until the consecration of the First Temple under the kingship of Solomon the son of David. From the destruction of that Temple and the exile of the people of Israel until the establishment of the Second Temple. From that Temple's destruction until the revolt of Bar Kochba, and all throughout the years. There has never been an era of Jewish history when the Hebrew language did not stand beside the Jewish people.

To our great chagrine, however, the Jewish people have not always been faithful to the language that we have used for prayer and communal memory for thousands of years. We have not devoted ourselves to the study of this holy language and to daily communication in it. Hebrew literacy is at a very low point among American Jews of every stripe. It is the purpose of this website to offer tools and support to reduce Jewish Hebrew illiteracy.

May the new year bring with it forgiveness for our sins, the great redemption for which the Jewish people has long waited, and prosperity for all the people of Israel and for all those among the nations who fear the God of Israel and bow down to him alone.
